The first ever textile-garment based magazine “Bangladesh Textile Today” has declared an international conference for the textile and apparel industry named ”International Conference on Textile & Apparel- 2010 (ICTA-2010)” to be held on 29-30 January, 2010 in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka. The event will be the first one of this kind in Bangladesh. At the same time “Bangladesh Textile Today” also inaugurated a knowledge based competition for the textile garment students of different universities and institutes of the country named “Textile Talent Hunt-2009 (TTH-2009)”. Under the competition the students will undergo four steps to be the Textile Talent of the year 2009. The winners will get attractive awards and scholarships. They will get reception in the “ICTA-2010”. The two programs have been inaugurated by the organizers in the Conference Lounge, National Press Club, Dhaka on 22nd October, 2009.

At the “International Conference on Textile & Apparel- 2010 (ICTA-2010)”, delegates from different institutes, professionals, entrepreneurs and academics will participate and present their keynote and articles. The theme of “ICTA-2010” is “Recent Developments and Challenges of Textile and Apparel Industry”. Bangladesh Textile Today requests articles and keynotes for presentation, publication and poster presentation at the event from any body interested within 30th November, 2009. Both of the events are supported by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), The Textile Institute- Manchester, UK and College of Textile Technology- Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Hundreds of journalists from press and electronic media were present at the program. Distinguished guests from different sub sectors of the textile-garment arena found the launching of the events is a response to the crying need of the industry. The guest of honour Mr. John T. Smith appreciated the nice and matured plan of the organizer. He mentioned that declaration of ICTA more than three months earlier will help in getting good and high quality participants from around the world. He promised to give all possible supports from his side from Textile Institute and also from UNIDO.

The honorable chief guest Mr. Abdul Hai Sarker, the president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) mentioned that in any field of interest we must look for the talents to give them the opportunities to flourish and to contribute rightly in his or her respective area. He also said that textile sector specially needs more talent. He also mentioned that there was a time when the business in this sector was easier but in a competitive and global world like this things are not that easy anymore. Mr. Sarker depicted the scarcity of skilled and knowledgeable engineers in the industry and informed that the industry owners are looking for competent and dynamic professionals to give them attractive compensation for their service.

Finally the chief guest Mr. Sarkar declared the “1st International Conference on Textile & Apparel 2010 (ICTA-2010)” open and inaugurates its website for public which was followed by sheer clapping from the present audiences.

Textile Talent Hunt (TTH)Judges Panel Chairman Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan gave the wellcome speech while Mr. A.S.M Tareq Amin, Editor & Publisher of Bangladesh Textile Today was presenting whole plan of the mentioned events.

The Chairman of the Conference Committee and TTH Organizing Committee Mr. Monirul Islam thanked everybody who had joined the launching ceremony and also all others those who were supporting “Bangladesh Textile Today”. He was depicting that “Bangladesh Textile Today” is in his way forward and look forward to the successful future. He mentioned that BTT is growing very well. He told that it has a few more areas to improve but its young and energetic teams are ready to take the challenges and face all the things with confidence to reach to the ultimate success of the launched events.
