A round table discussion meeting organized by Bangladesh Textile Today was held in the seminar room of College of Textile Engineering & Technology, Dhaka. Almost forty specialist has discussed there views on “Role of Research and Publication in Building Knowledge Based Textile Community in Bangladesh”. Prof. Dr. Anwarul Azim, former Vice Chancellor DUET and Engr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Chairman, The Daily Amar Desh, Former Energy Advisor Govt. of Bangladesh were present at the meeting as special guests. Academics from BUET, DUET & Private Universities and Textile & Garment industry experts took part in the meeting. The organizer Bangladesh Textile Today is the quarterly international textile magazine being published from Bangladesh. The key note paper was presented by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Executive Editor of the magazine Bangladesh Textile Today. Prof. Dr. N.C. Shutradhar, Chairman, Bangladesh Technical Education Board was the moderator of the meeting. Meeting emphasized the need of Research & Development work in the development of Textile- Garment Sector. Mr. Mahmudur Rahman & Prof. Dr. Anwarul Azim emphasized on Institutional Research & Publication and suggested that more work to be done on research strategy planning and implementation. A.S.M Tareq Amin, publisher Bangladesh Textile Today has given a presentation on the activities of the magazine and recommended the ways how publications can play an important role by linking the industry bodies. The magazine is working to develop a knowledge based sustainable textile community in Bangladesh.
