Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and Trestle Group Foundation jointly organized a two-day workshop on “Empowering & Accelerating Women Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh” at DCCI Auditorium on 8 and 9 July 2017. Founder and Chairman of Dohatech New Media, Luna Shamsuddoha chaired the 2-day workshop.
DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan inaugurated the workshop on 8 July 2017. He said, “…for the inclusive economic development we have to engage women entrepreneurs into the main stream of economic activities.”
He also said that government should give more incentives to the women entrepreneurs along with adequate training facilities.
According to the statistics of Bangladesh Bank, in 2016, TK. 5345 crore was disbursed as credit to small and medium women entrepreneurs which is 3.77% of the total credit disbursement to this sector. A woman entrepreneur sometimes faces challenges in capital formation, getting license, sustainable quality assurance, human resource management, audit and accounts etc.
Luna Shamsuddoha said, “If women entrepreneurs get easy access to loan, they will be able to flourish themselves. Most of the women entrepreneurs are of SME category and SME is the lifeblood of our economy.”
Ralph Schonenbach, Envoy from Envoy World and Jeannettee Weidmann from Trestle Group conducted the workshop.
About 80 women entrepreneurs took part in this workshop. DCCI Secretary General AHM Rezaul Kabir distributed certificates among the participants.
