The world is severely affected by ongoing economic turmoil. Bangladesh also has got some sort of heat of the recession especially from remittance and export sector. But the textile and garment sector has continued its growth in a good pace. Although it is facing severe competition from rival countries and a number of problems from the internal infrastructure system, endless effort from the entrepreneurs, textile engineers, executives and workers never let the growth to stop. While 81.43% of total export is contributed by the textile & garment sector it is very easy to imagine the consequences of any trouble or depletion of the sector.

Today’s textile garment sector is very dynamic and getting changes every second by continuous research and development. Every country is behind innovations and new technology. Modern development is setting new parameters and standard everyday. To compete and sustain in this tremendously dynamic industry Bangladesh also have to adopt the research trends and use its merit to develop new techniques and processes using its resources to achieve the ultimate efficiency. An international conference is the forum for gathering and disseminating the acquired knowledge. It is a demand of time in the country and certainly a way forward to build knowledge based textile community.

Recent Developments and Challenges of Textile and Apparel Industry

The International Conference on Textile and Apparel 2010 is the first of this type to be held in Bangladesh. The conference is multidisciplinary and global with participation of leading international scientists, R&D institutions, top level industrial management, industrialists as well as business representatives. The Conference provides a unique forum to discuss the latest trends, technological advancements and innovations in textile processing and impact of all these on business opportunities taking into consideration the social, economical and ecological requirements. At the two days long program the participants will be provided with lunches/dinner and snacks breaks. Some selected articles from professionals and research institutions will be presented in the program. At least two keynotes will be presented in conference in two different sessions. Personalities from different trade bodies and international agencies will be invited at the program. At the closing session the textile-talent of the year will be declared along with two runner-up and they will be awarded by the distinguish guests.
