Textile Sustainability Conference 2017, which will be organized by Textile Exchange, a global nonprofit organization that works to make the textile industry more sustainable, will take place in Washington, D.C. on 9th to 13th October. The conference is titled as ‘United in Action: Catalyzing the Sustainable Development Goals in Textiles’ and this year, Textile Exchange has committed to creating a target call to action for the textile industry around adopting the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).
Already it invites recommendations for speakers and topics through ‘call for papers’, where 5 goals are mentioned that are directly related to the industry. There are 17 SDGs with 169 associated targets, but Textile Exchange particularly has emphasized SDG Goal 6, 12, 14, 15 and17 to cover in the conference.
If anyone wants to submit any proposal the submission should be specific as to the SDGs covered as well as consider the relevant key performance indicators published for that SDG. The SDG’s are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
