More than 60 Bangladeshis are excelling in WTU, a Chinese hub of textiles research

wtu-chinaWuhan Textile University (WTU) is a public higher education institution of China aimed at cultivating textile specialists and serving textile industry. Wuhan Textile University was founded in 1958 in central China in Hubei’s capital Wuhan. Wuhan is a metropolis full of universities and talents. WTU is the only institution in Central and Southwest China that features studies in textile and apparel. WTU is officially accredited/recognized by the Department of Education, Hubei Province.

With 35 thousand national and 500 international students WTU is one of largest coeducational higher education institution. WTU offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. WTU has 20 colleges, and offers 63 undergraduate programs, 47 graduate programs, and 5 joint PhD programs. The science of research in the field of Textile Engineering, Dyeing & Finishing, Fashion Design and Art Design reach the highest level in the world.

Wuhan Textile University is devoted to distinctive and precise research in some areas linked closely with the discipline and needs of related industries. Till now, 3 national key laboratories, 13 provincial key laboratories and 6 campus research institutions provide the researchers with top-ranking research condition and facilities. Number of famous scholars and experts are working at WTU. They are major force of the scientific research in the field of Textile, Fashion, Art Design, Engineering and so on. Among them Dr. Yao Mu, Dr. Wang Xungai, Dr. Xu Weilin, Dr. Zeng Qingfu, Dr. Victor, Dr.Felix Telegin, Dr.Anna Cheshkova, Dr. Zhu Ping, Dr. Yu Weidong, Dr. Ghislaine Azemard, Dr. Ann Marie Fiore, Prof. Susan Tyber Avila, Dr.Wang Dong, Dr.Liu Kan, Dr.Wang Xin, Dr.Wang Shengxiang, Prof. Xiong Chuanxi are under counting of worlds famous scientists.

Since 2013 Bangladeshi student are coming to this university for their masters study. Currently more than 60 Bangladeshi students are studying their masters at WTU. This year 33 Bangladeshi Students attended masters programs at WTU on different field among them 32 students were awarded by Wuhan Textile University President Scholarship, One student were awarded by China Government Scholarship.

bd-students-wtu-chinaWTU entered the Association of Universities for Textiles in Europe (AUTEX) and the Textile Institute (TI) in 2013. WTU successfully hosted the 89th Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC) in 2014, which was the highest level conference in textile areas. More than 300 talents and experts from over 20 countries attended the TIWC to discuss the innovation and development of textile. WTU have established cooperative relations with about 50 universities and research institutes to establish joint research, teaching, exchange or other cooperative relations that will benefit the faculty and students of both institutions from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Ukraine, India and so on.

Wuhan Textile University have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southeast University, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), Green University as a part of fruitful cooperation and exchanges in the fields of teaching and research. This year 17 students from Southeast University, 11 students From BUFT, 1 student from BUTex, 1 Student from Green University attending master’s program at WTU under Wuhan Textile University President Scholarship 2016. Graduate Bangladeshi students from WTU serving well in the field of research and global dyes, chemical, textile and apparel business.

By providing high quality, student-oriented education in an environment of multi-disciplinary integration with engineering, science, arts, economics and management disciplines and bright features in the field of textile engineering, fashion design, art design, and new media WTU becomes a hub of higher education in textile, apparel and fashion design in China.
