Textile Engineer’s convention was held in Dhaka conveying the slogan “Efficient Textile Engineer, Advanced industry, Bangladesh to win the World.” a day-long convention was organized by the Association of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ATET), Bangladesh at Army Golf Garden on 1 May, 2019.

In chair Engr. Aminul Islam, President of ATET; Golam Dastagir Gazi, Minister, Textiles and Jute was the chief guest at the event while Engr. Mohammad Mozaffar Hossain, MP Jamalpur-05 was present as a special guest. Among other Engr.Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Managing Director of HAMS Group; Mohammad Ismail, Director General (Additional Secretary) Department of Textiles were also present in the event.
Golam Dastagir Gazi said, “Bangladesh textile industry was very small during Pakistan period but now we have a world leading textile industry and to attain the 1st position in the world in apparel export we must make the high-end garment.”
Dastagir Gazi also added, “Prime minister Sheikh Hasina emphasizes on technical education and so will establish more textile institutes.”

In regards to open a textile BCS cadre, he ensured to give all the support from his ministry for government’s review.
Engr. Mohammad Mozaffar Hossain urged the Textiles and Jute Ministry to appoint textile engineers in all of its projects and policy-making matters.
Managing Director of HAMS Group Engr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We see textile institutes are lacking in good teachers. So before establishing new institutes, the government has to ensure quality teachers will be available.”
ATET presented 22 proposals to the Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi that can help the textile engineers to uplift their profession.
