A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the department of Textile Engineering of AUST and the Urmi Group on 11th January 2023 at AUST Campus to form a strategic partnership aiming to initiate research and development in the field of textile engineering, arrange the industrial training program, and internship of the final year students of DTE.

The partnership will explore and expand the horizon of corporate social responsibilities through DTE, AUST. The unitedly agreed efforts are spearheaded towards accomplishing highly ambitious and mutually beneficial envisioned achievements of both renowned organizations.
Asif Ashraf, Managing Director of Urmi Group, Biplob Barua, General Manager of Strategic HR, Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Treasurer, and Prof. Dr. Lal Mohan Baral signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and other faculty members of AUST were present during the MoU signing ceremony.
Also, Shamarukh Fakhruddin, The Director of the Urmi Group, and Ruhul Quddus, Head of the Textile Business Unit were present at this auspicious program.

The program was started with a warm welcome speech by Anchor Md. Shah Nawaz Mazumder, Vice President of AUST Textile Society. He described the benefits of this collaboration. The honourable guests shared their valuable thoughts regarding the event.
Prof. Dr. Lal Mohan Baral expressed his gratitude towards the Urmi Group and said that this MoU will be followed up by DTE. Our department is interested in developing good linkages with industry and trying to develop new partnerships. And already we have some collaboration with some other industries to give the internship facilities and improve the research opportunity for both the teachers and students as well.
Biplob Barua, General Manager, Strategic HR, Urmi Group convey his gratefulness towards DTE of AUST and added that they are trying to use the machines and equipment to make the production process easier and smooth.

He also strongly mentioned that they believe in people to drive the production and to bring an innovative change, the people are more important.
People’s efforts and mindset matter more to improve the production and he hoped to get some innovative talented minds from DTE of AUST who can contribute to growing their company.
At this event, the other guests also shared their points of view. after that Mr. Asif Ashraf, Managing Director of Urmi Group expressed his words by saying that a huge number of foreigners worked in their company and the company needs to put a huge investment in them, a company does this due to the lack of enough capable people in our country.
He also said, “RMG is the driving force of our country. This sector has a great influence on the economy of our country. The attitudes of the students should be changed and they should invest more time in the factory to learn from the root. Not from the trends.’’

Finally, he mentioned improving the whole industry so that together all the industries can bring a change for the country.
The event concluded after exchanging a token of gratitude between the both organizations where Asif Ashraf, Managing Director of Urmi Group, and Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Treasurer, AUST handed over to each over. It was an amazing collaboration to facilitate the student’s opportunities and made themself prepare for job and industry-level from students’ life.
