Bangladeshi entrepreneurs are producing 282 types of jute products most of which are being exported. This is due to the increased use of jute products as well as the government’s emphasis on innovating and expanding the use of versatile jute products. Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastgir Gazi informed this in a meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday (September 27).

The Minister of Textiles and Jute said in the meeting, that the government will give full support to the concerned parties in the development, modernization and expansion of export trade in the jute sector.
He also said that various fairs are being organized in abroad as well as promotion campaigns to popularize these versatile jute products worldwide. These fares are helping to establish more contacts between producers, marketers, users and foreign buyers of jute products.
The government is providing other material support to farmers besides maintaining an adequate supply of seeds to ensure jute cultivation. Jute production has increased manifold in recent years and jute mills are getting a continuous supply of jute, which is playing an important role in export earnings. Farmers are also getting fair price of jute, he added.
The market price of jute will be kept under constant observation in order to ensure the supply of raw jute required in the country and to accelerate the export of jute and jute products, the Minister further added.
According to Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC), diversified jute goods are including jute bags (ladies, school, executive, laptop), purses, bed sheet, sofa cover, blankets, curtain, floor mat, sweater, blazers, gents and ladies’ shoes, Sarees, ornaments and ornament boxes, ladies three pieces and home decor items, etc.
