Bangladesh RMG to showcase in 37th IAF World Fashion Convention

International Apparel Federation (IAF) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) to organize the 37th IAF World Fashion Convention in November in Dhaka with the goal to promote the readymade garment (RMG) industry of Bangladesh locally and globally by showcasing captivating stories of the garment sector through ‘Made in Bangladesh’ branding.

On 14 May, a logo unveiled a program for the 37th World Fashion Convention and a press conference was held at a hotel in Dhaka. Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA, and Matthijs Crietee, Secretary-General, IAF and Fazle Shameem Ehsan, Vice President, BKMEA jointly unveil the logo of the 37th World Fashion Convention for the first time in public.

At the event, Faruque Hassan said, “As we have achieved a certain level of growth and momentum, it is now time for us to leapfrog to the next level of growth. Our progress and prospects have made us one of the most sustainable sourcing partners to the west and we have to work harder to safeguard it.”

“Recognizing the importance of strengthening Bangladesh’s presence in the global fashion market and to initiate a greater collaboration with the global stakeholders for sustainable manufacturing and sourcing, BGMEA and BKMEA pursued IAF to organize the 37th World Fashion Convention in Bangladesh. IAF has agreed to that proposition and the 37th World Fashion Convention will be hosted in Bangladesh in collaboration with BGMEA and BKMEA, while Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) will be supporting us in this event.”

“It is noteworthy to mention that the IAF Convention is a high-level, international meeting of global apparel industry stakeholders from all continents. Since 1983, the IAF convention is being held every year in different host countries of IAF members.  The IAF convention will be a 3-daylong event where in the first day, a board meeting containing all the IAF Board of Director, where I am a Director as well will be held. A daylong conference to be participated by local and international speakers will also be a part of this convention.”

“Currently, we are doing all the preparatory works for the convention. Today we have the Secretary-General of IAF, Matthijs Crietee with us as a part of the preparation for this mega event. I am very happy to let you know that the logo of Both’Made in Bangladesh Week’ and ‘37th World Fashion Convention’ has been finalized,” BGMEA President added.

The seven-day convention from November 12 to November 18 will hold fashion shows, denim expos, and discussions on sustainability. The expo will also brand Bangladesh’s image to international buyers which will aid negotiate fair prices.

The speakers including brands, retailers, suppliers, industry leaders, and academics will highlight the current and future business trends, challenges, and probable solutions, with the goal to make industry-wide efforts to create an improved fashion industry for all.
