Bangladesh Textile Today jointly organized “Presentation on ITMA 2011” with MP International, Dhaka recently

A promotional road show on ITMA 2011 has been held on 30th March 2011 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. ITMA, which will take place from 22 to 29 September 2011 at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. Bangladesh Textile Today is the local media partner of the show and jointly organized the “Presentation on ITMA 2011” with MP International, the organizer of the exhibition. The main aim of the road-show was to make industry people to realize the importance and effectiveness of the exhibition. MP International is organizing road-show for the exhibition in different countries.

ITMA is the world’s largest international textile machinery exhibition, an event which is owned by CEMATEX. ITMA is recognized as the ‘Olympics’ of the textile machinery industry – a showcase of the latest technology and a vital meeting place for buyers and sellers from all over the world. It has been held every four years at different venues across Europe since 1951.

To have the presentation in Dhaka two members form MP international i.e Daphne Poon, Regional Marketing Communications Director of MP International and Susanna Tan, Marketing Communications Manager of MP International came to Dhaka for two days road show promotion. In their schedule the met their supporting organization’s governing bodies. They visited BKMEA office with Alhaj Habibur Rahman, First Vice President of BKMEA (Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association); Mr. Showkat Aziz Russell, Vice President, BTMA (Bangladesh Textile Mills Association). They also visited Embassy of Spain to request the chancellor to make the visa issuing procedure easier for the exhibitors & visitors who will apply for visa to participate at the exhibition. I their two days tour they also visited Esquire Textile Mills Ltd at Narayangonj.

Mr. Abdul Latif Siddique, MP, Honorable Minister of Textile & Jute, Govt. of peoples republic of Bangladesh was gracing the promotional road show program as chief guest while Alhaj Habibur Rahman, First Vice President, BKMEA, Mr. Showkat Aziz Russell, Vice President, BTMA were present as the special guest. Engr. Shafiqur Rahman, Chairman, Standing Committee for Capacity Building on Associations, FBCCI was also present as the guest of honour. The session was chaired by Mr. A.S.M Tareq Amin, Editor and Publisher of Bangladesh Textile Today.

Honorable minister wishes a successful ITMA 2011 which is to be held in Barcelona, Spain. He also invites all our textile & garment industry to take part in this grand exhibition. Mr. Showkat Aziz Russell, Vice President, BTMA said that BTMA (Bangladesh Textile Mills Association) feels proud to be the supporting organization of the world largest show. “I hope that Bangladeshi textile professionals and businessmen will take part in ITMA exhibition so that they can have the knowledge and idea of innovations of latest technology of the textile garments industries” he added. Alhaj Habibur Rahman said BKMEA has a plan to send a team on behalf of BKMEA to visit upcoming ITMA 2011.

At the presentation session Ms. Daphne Poon, Regional Marketing Communication Director of MP International gave a presentation on ITMA 2011and its impact on global textile & apparel sector. In the beginning of her presentation Ms. Daphne Poon introduced her company MP International which is established in 1987 and member of Pico group. She informed that MP is a professional exhibition and conference organizer and some of the special events organize by MP International are: World Expo 2010 – Urban Best Practices Area, APEC Leaders’ Week 2009. MP International has collaboration with CEMATEX for Over 10 years. Some CEMATEX owned events organized and to be organized by MP International are: ITMA Asia 2001 & 2005: Singapore; ITMA ASIA+CITME 2008, 2010 & 2012: Shanghai, China; ITMA 2011: Barcelona, Spain; ITMA 2015: Milan, Italy.

She showed the flashback of first ITMA which was held from April 28-May 30, 1951 at Lille, France. It was the first of the ITMA’s that were to display developing new concepts in textile technology.  Some segments of the chain have seen the emergence of a breakthrough technology in recent decades while others have experienced incremental improvements to existing technologies or a proliferation of innovations that respond to changing consumer demands.” Ms. Daphne Poon quates from University of Texas in Austin website to describe the importance of Industry Innovations. She also focused on the future of Textile & Clothing. She said that now manufacturers are looking at sustainable business solutions when consumers are increasingly demanding eco-friendly products and supporting businesses that adopt eco-friendly processes. “Textile makers are also exploring cost efficient and environmentally friendly solutions” she added.

4Editor  & Publisher of Bangladesh Textile Today Mr. A.S.M Tareq Amin is presenting his presentation on “Recent Developments and Challenges of Textile & Apparel Industries of Bangladesh”

Editor  & Publisher of Bangladesh Textile Today Mr. A.S.M Tareq Amin also presented a paper on “Recent Developments and Challenges of Textile & Apparel Industries of Bangladesh”. In his presentation Mr. Amin focused on the gains of our textile & apparel sector and the constraints that are needed to be pay attention to maximize our productivity & profit. He started with the overall structure of the textile & garment industry of Bangladesh. He pointed out the actual value addition of total textile & garment export to the economy. Mr. Amin also showed the growth of textile sector, Contribution to GDP, the FDI scenario, Power and gas situation, Workers productivity etc. He also emphasized on Jute industry of Bangladesh.

With his experience in Textile Garments by his research and developments programs for the last five yeas Mr. Amin recommended establishing separate Research & Development cells in the industries. He also mentions that for a sustainable & environment friendly business we should ensuring continuous use of ETP. To sustain in the global competitive market, increasing worker productivity and production efficiency is another key factor that he gave importance in his presentation. He mentioned Textile Garments sector is moving our national economy, government along with the associations i.e BTMA, BGMEA,  BKMEA should work together for getting better benefit from this sector.

He finished his session by inviting to work together to create a knowledge based textile community and build the image of Bangladesh as Top quality textile and garment maker of the world. Mr. Amin informed proudly informed that Amin & Jahan Corporation, the house of Bangladesh Textile Today will support the exhibitors and visitors who are willing to visit the exhibition in hotel booking, tour packages, visa support etc.
