Bangladesh’s logistics sector urges govt to make the law more business-friendly

Bangladesh’s courier and logistics urged the government to make the ‘Mailing Operator and Courier Service Development and Regulatory Authority Act-2022’ more business-responsive.

The courier and logistics sector leaders made this demand at the second meeting of the standing committee held at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) bhaban in Dhaka. The leaders requested the authorities to recognize the courier and logistics sector as a service industry.

Md Naser, Director In-Charge of the committee said to media, “The committee will soon prepare its recommendation for the amendment of the draft law.”

Hafizur Rahman Pulok, Chairman of the Committee and President of the Courier Services Association of Bangladesh said, “Courier and logistics companies would be able to contribute more to the national economy if the government provides proper policy and legal support.”

While Jashim Uddin, President, FBCCI said, “Future expansion of the country’s economy largely depends on logistics as the sector builds up on a sustainable supply chain.  Without an effective logistics ecosystem, even attaining food security is impossible,”.
