Recently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina honored Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) for their contribution to the development of Bangladesh’s apparel industry.

BGMEA President Rubana Huq on behlf of BGMEA received a crest at the program of the National Textile Day-2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Sheikh Hasina urged the Bangladesh garment manufacturers and exporters to explore new markets and diversify their apparel items to keep pace with the changing fashion and designs of the apparel items in the international markets.
Hasina opened the multipurpose textiles fair where nine organizations were honored with crests for their contribution to the development of the country’s textile sector.
Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association, Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills & Powerloom Industries Association, Bangladesh Cotton Association and National Crafts Council of Bangladesh also awarded at the program.
Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi presided over the function, while Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textiles and Jute Ministry Mirza Azam spoke on the occasion.
Textiles and Jute Secretary Lokman Hossain Miah delivered the welcome speech.
