BGMEA highlights fashion sustainability at Global Fashion Summit 2022

Taking part in a plenary discussion at the Global Fashion Summit 2022 as a speaker, BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali explained why sustainability is a key strategic priority for the readymade garment (RMG) industry of Bangladesh.

He also shed light on the remarkable strides of Bangladesh’s RMG industry in the area of environmental sustainability and its strategic vision of pursuing sustainability.

Through the international platform like Global Fashion Summit, he also shared with the global audience that the RMG industry and BGMEA has adopted changes in its philosophy, vision, missions with an aim to accelerate the growth of the RMG industry in a manner that is sustainable and positively impacts the economy, the environment and the lives of peoples.

Tyler Gillard, Head of Due Dilligence, OECD Centre for Responsible Business Conduct; Alessandra Biaggi, New York State Senator; Maxine Bédat, Director, New Standard Institute & Author, UNRAVELED, The Life and Death of a Garment; Sebastian Herold, Deputy Head of Division, Divion 121 – Sustainable textile supply chains, sustainable consumption, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) also spoke at the panel discussion titled “Policy Power: Alliances Forcing Disclosure”.
