BGMEA requests commerce ministry to simplify RMG export procedures

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan urged the Commerce Ministry to ease export procedures for the RMG industry so that the sector could address current challenges and move ahead.

He made the request during a meeting with Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh at the ministry on 9 June. BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali and First Vice President of BKMEA, Mohammad Hatem also attended the meeting.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said the garment factories were still struggling to survive and recover from the losses and shocks created by the pandemic. Given the critical situation, simplification of export procedures would help the industry to turn around, he added.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said the commerce ministry would consider the way to ease export procedures and take steps accordingly.

Md. Hafizur Rahman, Additional Secretary, the Ministry of Commerce was also present at the meeting.
