BGMEA-STEP signs MoU to train RMG workers

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Skill and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) recently to train up the RMG workers for enhancing their productivity.

BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir and Project Director of STEP A B M Azad signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations in the presence of BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman.

BGMEA Director Md. Munir Hossain, Deputy Project Director Engr. Md. Nuruzzaman and Program Officer Dr. Md. Anwarul Hoque were also present at the ceremony.

Under the MoU, BGMEA in collaboration with Directorate of Technical Education will implement the Skill and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) where young people will be given training in garment sewing and knitting. The RMG industry accounts for 83 percent of total export earnings of Bangladesh and employs nearly 4 million people.
