bluesign®, excellence in responsible manufacturing

bluesign® Dialogue Dhaka 2019 held on 9 July at Le Meridian, Dhaka. ‘Excellence in responsible manufacturing’ was the key theme of the dialogue.

The dialogue is the part of the global series organized by bluesign® technologies AG. The purpose of arranging the seminar is to focus on the latest knowledge and exchange know-how around responsible manufacturing with the experts of bluesign®.

Figure: ‘Sustainability as a Global Movement – Threats to and Opportunities for the Textile Industry in Bangladesh’ was the core topic of the panel discussion held in the bluesign® Dialogue Dhaka 2019 on 9 July at Le Meridian, Dhaka.

The event addressed corporate responsibility managers, marketing managers as well as experts in the fields of environmental or chemical management of all stakeholders of the textile value chain including chemical suppliers, manufacturers, converters and brands as well as government and non-governmental organizations. Among the panel members K.M. Rezaul Hasanat, Chairman & CEO, Viyellatex Group; John Dimick, Vice President, Youngone; Siddharth Raj, Regional Marketing Manager, Huntsman Corporation; Andreas Troscheit, Textile Auxiliary Solutions, Head of Technical Service Finishing, CHT Group; Kurt Schlapfer, Head of CRM, bluesign® technologies AG.

In the panel discussion, representatives from BGMEA and BKMEA as well as participants from national and international organizations were present.

‘Sustainability as a Global Movement – Threats to and Opportunities for the Textile Industry in Bangladesh’ was the core topic of the panel discussion.

Speaker’s urged on using sustainable chemicals as well as asking fair price from the buyers as without a fair price no manufacturers in Bangladesh can provide a sustainable product.

The seminar also highlighted on the below topics to ensure sustainability in the production:

  • ‘Chemical assessment and preferred chemistry – schemes, risks, solutions’
  • Resource savings – reducing impacts and costs
  • Human and environmental capital – the business advantage from responsible manufacturing
