BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology’s (BUFT) 1st convocation ceremony held at Bashundhara International Conference Center (ICCB) in Dhaka – where more than 5000 students have been awarded graduation and post-graduation certificates. Of them, 53 students have been awarded gold medals.
Distinguished guests highlighted that since its inception in 2012, BUFT has been dedicated to developing human resources for the readymade garments, textiles and allied sectors of Bangladesh. The university aims to establish itself as a ‘center of excellence’ for study, research and development and to serve the nation.
As the Chief Guest, Dr. Dipu Moni, Education Minister said, “BUFT has been playing a pioneering role in fulfilling future challenges through research and development (R&D) and training activities along with topnotch teaching to meet the challenges of the 21st century and achieve the goals of 2041.”
Dipu Moni – who joined the convocation ceremony as a representative of the President of Bangladesh and the chancellor of the university – said, “We want to create a generation which is forerunner in knowledge and science, enlightened in thought and consciousness and motivated by honesty and humanity.”
While, Muzaffar Uddin Siddique, Founding Chairman BUFT highlighted the relentless hard work and dedication to establish State of the art University.
In ensuring topnotch education, BUFT is bringing foreign professors for lectures, incorporating the E-learning system, software’s, Lectra, Garber, even it has a mini spinning mill, modern fabric manufacturing, dyeing, printing, finishing, Apparel manufacturing machines.
Furthermore, BUFT is fortified with other modern machines like pattern lab, Nonwoven lab, Fashion Photography lab, etc. It is furnished with various outstanding facilities for extra-curricular activities.
“To fulfil the international educational standard, BUFT is working hard. And I think the standard has to be very high. So, we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure global educational standard,” said Muzaffar U. Siddique.
Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor BUFT said, “We are building skilled manpower as the Bangladesh textile and RMG sector is rising. The plea for skilled mid-level management is increasing there as well. So, we are meticulously working to achieve that.”
“We have 56 labs here, with comprehensive facilities in laboratories because we value the student’s practical knowledge,” Ayub Nabi Khan added.
Among others, Sarwar Alam, Additional Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Southern Region Corporation Cell; Prof SM Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of BUFT; Akhim Troester, German Ambassador; Faruque Hasan, President, BGMEA; Shafiul Islam, FBCCI Past President, Members of the Board of Trustees, Syndicate and Academic Council Members, and were present at the convocation ceremony.
