BUTEX becomes ‘Action Aid-Prothom Alo Bondhushova National Debate’ champion

A daylong inter-university debate competition titled “Action-Aid Prothom Alo Bondhu-Shova National Debate Fest-2019” was held on 26 October. Action Aid Bangladesh and Prothom Alo Bondhushova jointly organized the event at Daffodil University Auditorium.

Team BUTEXDC Bunon from Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) became champion at the competition beating Jahangirnagar University by a huge margin of 7-0 ballots. The team consisted of four members of the BUTEX Debating Club- Jalal Md Ashfaq, Shakil Ahmed Sagar, Naeem Mahmud and Muzahid Rumman. Shakil Ahmed Sagar also became ‘Debater of the Final (DOF)’.

The event was patronage by the foreign ministry of the Netherlands. 22 teams from different universities of Dhaka participated in the competition. After going through huge competition and countering one another with logics and facts in different rounds, two teams from BUTEX and JU made it to the final round.

JU played the role of government team whereas BUTEX became the opponent team in the final.

After a breath-taking round of debate, team BUTEXDC Bunon finally became the champion and Jahangirnagar University became the runners-up.

Mumit Al Rashid, Assistant Prof. of DU, Belal Hossain, Assistant Director of Ministry of Industry, Jabed Haider, Assistant Secretary of Foreign Ministry and several other famous figures were present as guests at the event. The competition ended at 9 PM and the guests handed over the prizes to the winners.
