Chinese apparel maker Fenix Garment is going to set up a high-end garment factory in the BEPZA Economic Zone with an investment of $39.70 million. For this purpose, the company signed an agreement with Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) on Sunday (04 December) at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. BEPZA Member (Investment Development) Ali Reza Mazid and Chairman of Fenix Garment Ma Zhuang signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman congratulated Fenix Garment for choosing BEPZA Economic Zone as an investment destination. He assured BEPZA to provide all kinds of services to set up the factory and start production operations.
The executive chairman of BEPZA urged the investor to ensure the maximum utilization of the land used during the construction of the factory building. Also requested to use the roof of the company’s factory building for renewable energy production.

Chairman of Fenix Garment Ma Zhuang said, ‘I have been in Bangladesh for 12 years and we have two factories in Chattogram and Comilla EPZ. Fenix Garment is going to be our third factory in BEPZA.
According to the project proposal, Fenix Garment Limited will produce 10 million pieces of sports jackets, motorcycle safety jackets, coveralls, hospital gowns, PPE, luggage, backpacks and various types of high-end clothing items annually. The factory will create employment opportunities for 15 thousand 820 Bangladeshi citizens.
BEPZA Economic Zone set up on 1138.55 acres of land at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar in Mirsarai, Chattragham is the biggest venture of BEPZA. 15 companies including Fenix Garment have signed agreements with BEPZA to set up factories here. The total proposed investment is $363.65 million. Already 3 companies have started the factory construction work. BEPZA expects one of these factories to begin production by early 2023.

Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Executive Director (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md. Khorshid Alam, Project Director of BEPZA EZ Md. Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan along with high officials of BEPZA and Fenix Garment were present during the signing ceremony.
