Chinese IHM Garments and Textile to invest $8.7 mn in Ishwardi EPZ

Chinese company IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited is going to set up a garment factory in Ishwardi EPZ with an investment of $8.7 million US dollars. To this end, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) and IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited in Dhaka on 27 February.

Bepza Member (Investment Development) Ali Reza Mazid and IHM Company Chairman Yu Binbin signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Bepza Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman witnessed the signing ceremony.

This wholly foreign-owned company will produce 2.6 million pieces of woven tops and 10.6 million pieces of knit tops and pants for women, men and children annually. IHM Garments and Textile Company will create employment opportunities for 2457 Bangladeshi citizens.

Bepza Member (Engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam; Member (Finance) Nafisa Banu; Executive Director (Administration) Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury; Executive Director (Public Relations) Najma Binte Alamgir; Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain; Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md. Khorshid Alam were present with others during the signing ceremony.
