Cone Denim focuses on regenerative cotton for premium denim lines

Cone Denim ®, a global leader in denim authenticity and sustainable innovation for more than 130 years, is excited to expand its sustainability commitment by highlighting the usage of regenerative cotton in its premium denim lines.

In collaboration with international regenerative agriculture initiative Regenagri, Cone’s goal is to increase access to sustainably sourced cotton grown using regenerative agricultural practices and also working on various programmes to help its customers and brands achieve key sustainability actions.

These activities assist increase soil health by rebuilding the soil’s organic carbon by working with nature. No-till agriculture, cover crops, diversified crop rotations, and decreased fertilizer and pesticide usage are examples of regenerative methods.

Cone fully supports the Regenagri® initiatives that help businesses move to holistic farming by prioritizing soil health and biodiversity, lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and sequestering CO2.

Along with that, Cone is committed to leading the industry in offering the highest standards in sustainable and ethically grown cotton from their new certification with Regenagri and longstanding participation with BCI and Cotton Leads to their partnership with Oritain.

Besides that, they are not only dedicated to achieving Cone’s sustainability goals, but also passionate about working with brands to help their customers meet and exceed their sustainability goals.

The industry must collaborate on integrating these regenerative agriculture practices into supply chains in order to continuously push towards a more sustainable future.

Meanwhile, with their parent company Elevate Textiles, Cone Denim has pledged to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and committed to source 80% verifiably sustainable cotton by 2025.

The brand offers a variety of responsibly sourced cotton including recycled cotton, organic cotton, and Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton, and continuously invests in supporting new initiatives.

Cone is a member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, which brings verifiable goals and measurement to sustainable cotton production and drives continuous improvement in certain sustainability metrics.

Additionally, Cone’s partnership with supply chain traceability specialist, Oritain, remains another ongoing priority when it comes to transparency and supply chain integrity.
