Decathlon, Giant Group and Urmi Group donate face masks to Dhaka North City Corporation

Renowned French sports clothing brand ‘Decathlon’, the Giant Group and Turag (Urmi Group) donated 40,000 pieces of facemasks to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) for distribution among the members of public in an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan handed over the face masks to the Honourable Mayor of DNCC, Md. Atiqul Islam at the latter’s office on 27 May.

BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali, Director Asif Ashraf, Director Md Mohiuddin Rubel and representatives from Decathlon and Turag (Urmi group) were present on the occasion.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam thanked Giant Group, Urmi Group and Decathlon for coming forward to donate the face masks, a crucial element for controlling Coronavirus infection.

He hoped that other famous apparel manufacturers and brands would follow this initiative and make similar contributions to curb the spread of the Covid-19.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan urged all people to follow the health safety guidelines including wearing face mask to contain spread of Covid-19. He expressed thanks to all entrepreneurs and workers of garment factories for following the health safety guidelines as asked by BGMEA which has made it possible to contain the Covid infection rate in the garment industry.

BGMEA previously donated 12,994 PPE and 177,746 pieces of face masks for distribution among health workers, hospitals and different law enforcing agencies.
