Denim & Jeans Bangladesh, a unique exhibition for denim and its related business has been showcased here in Dhaka on 1st& 2nd March 2014. Such event is the first of its kind in Bangladesh. Successful organization of such an event seems to be designed and implemented in similar way how world famous denim exhibition ‘Premier Vision’ takes place in different locations in the world. ‘A dedicated denim event like this really indicates how strong Bangladesh’s denim is being day by day’ said Mr. Zulfiqur Ali Turaz, Executive Director of Sinergies Sourcing while talking to this reporter. Sinergies Sourcing is a renowned apparel sourcing house in Bangladesh exporting denim and other garments from Bangladesh.
In this exhibition 27 leading companies participated from 10 countries. There were 22 denim fabric manufacturers, 1 denim garment manufacturer, 1 denim chemical manufacturer, 1 denim garmenting machinery manufacturer and 2 denim accessories manufacturers among them. Among the participants leading local denim fabric manufacturers Shasha, Nassa, Partex& Envoy could achieve special attention from the visitors with their nice collection. Mr. Jamal AbdunNaser, Director of Shasha Denims Ltd. was showing his collection and mentioned that we do a lot of investment in product development. Being one of the oldest denim fabric manufacturers we always look forward to keep us in the upper hand in design, quality & commitment he added. Visitors also could see collections from some international denim manufacturing companies like Vicunha-Brazil, Arvind-India, Candiani-Italy in the same place. Participation of denim garment manufacturer like Brandix brought a different dimension to the exhibition. Renowned chemical company Archroma (former Clariant) was showcasing their solution for denim fabric manufacturing mills and washing plants.
Mr. Ashraf, General Manager, Fabric Technology of Kenpark Bangladesh Ltd. expressed that an event like this really helps many Bangladeshi denim manufacturers to see what world leading denim manufacturers are doing. ‘Here I see local and global denim manufacturers side by side. I feel encouraged when I see that Bangladeshi Denim mills are producing value added and big array of verities of denim fabric. I think such an event will big them a big millage’ added Mr. Ashraf while expressing his feedback after visiting the show. Kenpark is a big garment manufacturing group located in Chittagong consuming a great amount of denim fabric every year.
The show was a great place to see local and global denim trends. On the 1st March a presentation was given by a Portugal based denim washing company called Pizzaro S.A., they were sharing their developments which helped them reducing environmental & health impact in the denim washing plant. They successfully replaced Potassium Permanganate spray with ice cooled CO2 wash for fading denim garment. They have developed a technology of safe application procedure of sand blasting along with complete sand recovery and recycling system.
