EU Mission visited Masco Cottons Ltd to assess the progress in the implementation of the National Action Plan on Labor and Human rights standards to determine eligibility for the trade facility on 17th March.
Masco Group Chairman M.A. Sabur; Managing Director; Ahmed Arif Billah, Director; Fahima Akhter & Farhana Akhter Executive Director; A.T.M. Mahbubul Alam, Director; Taufique Anowar welcomed delegates at factory premises.
A detailed overview of Masco was presented by Executive Director, A.T.M. Mahbubul Alam focusing on the Business establishment.
The EU mission expressed their happiness with Masco’s Commitments to sustainability (Social & Environmental) and Employee Engagement.
Also, EU Mission visited factory production floors to see the details production process, Health and Safety measures, working conditions, etc.
The EU visited Dhaka on a five-day tour to review the continuation of the EU’s Generalized System of Preferences (GSP).
And they had separate meetings with the Trade Union representative in presence of ILO Better works officials.
The visit was very successful which was acknowledged by Anis, Chief Technical Advisor of Better Work Bangladesh Program of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Director for International Affairs at the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) of the EU Jordi Curell Gotor led the mission.
Officials from Directorate-General for Trade and European External Action Service representatives also participated.
The team assessed the Country’s progress in ensuring a safe working environment.
