Hult Prize at BUTEX has finally completed their journey for this year with the Grand Finale of the On-Campus round of Hult Prize 2021 on 18 December 2020. Everything was held virtually. Finalists had a tough fight with their wonderful ideas on this year’s challenge, ‘Food for Good’.
The Champion of Hult Prize at BUTEX 2021 is ‘Team Saboteurs’. They have come up with their ‘Food Hawker’, an online subscription-based nutritious meal provider which provides every meal to consumer’s doorstep at an affordable price on time.
The First Runner Up is team ‘Imperio’ with their idea of solving malnutrition, providing nutritious food at a low price to the poor community and the Second Runner Up is ‘Team MADS’ with their meal service application ‘NutriBites’.
Eight teams participated in the Grand Finale. Each team went through a 6-minute presentation and a Q&A segment with the judges. Ideas based on food waste, organic fertilizer, biodegradable edible food packaging, banana cereal and flour were presented. All the ideas were highly praised by the judges.
Honorable judges of the Finale were Wares Habib, Executive Director of Pran Group; Syed Ibrahim Saajid, Senior Manager of DFS Product & Pricing at United Commercial Bank Ltd; Avonti Basak Tukun, Assistant Professor of Institution of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Dhaka; Fahad Ifaz, Co-founder & CEO of i-Famer; Dr. Hasneen Jahan, Professor at Bangladesh Agricultural University; Abdul Alim, Procurement Manager of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd; Abul Hasnat M Solaiman, Professor at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University; Arif Iqbal, Graduate Teaching Associate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Assistant Professor at the Bangladesh University of Textiles; Ahmed Yusuf, Associate of Bangladesh Angels Network. Textile Today was the Media Partner of this event.
Maeen Md. Khairul Akter, Lecturer at the Bangladesh University of Textiles was the program chair and advisor. Special guests were Mohammad Abbas Uddin Shiyak, Assistant Professor at the Bangladesh University of Textiles; Fahim Shahriar, Regional Associate of Hult Prize Global Team; Mohammad Zamshed Alam, Professor at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
Despite being the first-ever virtual program arranged by them, Hult Prize at BUTEX 2021 has been one of the most successful online events. The participation of so many enthusiastic teams from the very beginning and the hard work of the organizers made this possible. Wishing the Champion team, the best of luck for the Regional Round, Hult Prize at BUTEX says goodbye for this year. Hopefully next year they will be back with new surprises.
