Garment exports rose 14.31 percent to $27.42 billion in the July-January period from the previous year beating the $26.17 billion target, According to the data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) today.
Bangladesh’s total export earnings saw 5.89% growth in January FY2022-2023 – rising to $5.13 billion in the first month of the new year.
The earnings were $4.85 billion in the same month of last fiscal year, according to the data.
EPB statistics showed that knitwear exports during the current fiscal year from July to January reached $14.96 billion, which is 12.70% higher than last fiscal year. Exports of woven cloth during this period amounted to $12.45 billion, which is 16.30% higher than the same period last year.
Other textile and allied sub-sector exports
In the first 7 months (July to January) of FY2022-23 period, the home textile sector earned $692.86 million. Observing a 16.65% negative year-on-year growth.
Specialized textile products earned $146.83 million with 32.06% negative growth. While terry towel products earned $20.58 million. Observing a 29.42% year-on-year negative growth in the first 7 months (July to January) of FY2022-23 period.
Special woven fabric products earned $23.85 million and witnessed a 30.68% growth in the July-January FY2022-23 period.
Knitted fabrics exports earned $79.93 million. Witnessing a 49.78% negative growth in July to January of FY2022-23 period.
