First Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Former BGMEA President Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin has declared his panel for upcoming FBCCI election to be held on May 14, 2017. He is meanwhile contesting for President. He is a renowned and widely accepted leader in the garment owners’ community, the Managing Director of Onus Garments Ltd.

Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin announced 36-members panel for FBCCI 2017-19 term at a press conference on April 20 at the Purbani hotel in the capital. He pledged to work for the FBCCI with honesty and devotion. He requested all to work together to make Bangladesh a middle-income country by 2021.
Former FBCCI President Salman F Rahman said that the today’s panel were nominated by the former presidents. Thus, he requested everyone to make this panel win. Another former president and mayor of Dhaka North, Anisul Haque said that the president of FBCCI should be he by whom this sector can be benefited.
Former president of FBCCI, AK Azad, Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed and Mir Nasir Hossain were also present at the panel announcement. According to the FBCCI polls rules, the president and first vice president are elected in turns from the Association Group and the Chamber Group.

The last election of the FBCCI was held on May 23, 2015, which elected the current board directors headed by Abdul Matlub Ahmad.
