Garments washing factories to be associate member of BGMEA – Faruque Hassan at BGWTF 12 years celebration program

All garments washing factories are going to be associate member of BGMEA. The information was revealed on 26 March in the annual general meeting and get-together program of Bangladesh Garments Washing Technologist Foundation (BGWTF) at Priyanka Shooting Spot and Resort at Birulia, Savar.

Faruque Hassan, President BGMEA was present as the Chief Guest where newly elected BGWTF President Abdus Samad, General Manager, Washing, TUSUKA Processing Ltd. presided over the event and Mahasinuzzaman Shishir, General Manager, Natural Denims and Wash & Wear Ltd. and new General Secretary of BGWTF hosted the event.

Chairman of JCL Group and BGWTF adviser Helal Uddin Ahmed said, “Our washing industry is moving fast and many value added to this industry. I want to give the credit to the technologists who are working behind these developments.”

Engr. Shafiqur Rahman, President, ITET; Managing Director, HAMS Group and adviser of BGWTF thanked the washing industry professionals for working with risk in the pandemic period.

“Bangladesh washing industry lags behind China and Vietnam in R&D,” he also added.

Some garments owners do not clear payments to the washing factories properly. Shafiqur Rahman requested BGMEA to look into this matter.

“As the price of all raw materials goes up, all the owners including BGMEA have to work together,” Engr. Shafiqur Rahman concluded.

“We are the number one denim exporter to EU and USA, this achievement is the result of your (washing technologists) hard work and dedication in the pandemic,” said Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA.

I hope that we would work together for product development and market development with BGWTF after starting the BGMEA Innovation Center, he added.

Md. Mehedi Hasan, Founder President of BGWTF highlighted that BGWTF is working to establish a Washing Institute to give proper training and knowledge support to the professionals.

Best Development Award was given for keeping the leadership role in the washing sector. Maxcom was awarded first, Green Washing & Dying was second, Sterling laundry was third and Natural Group & Blue Creation was awarded fourth for their developments.

Lastly, the BGWTF provided financial support to the families of two General members who died during the Corona pandemic.
