Genencor and Texodyes hosted successful sustainable textiles seminar in Bangladesh.
Dhaka, Bangladesh 8th May 2011
Genencor and Texodyes, their distributor in Bangladesh, jointly organized and hosted a seminar about bringing more sustainable solutions to the textile and garment processing industry. The objective was to bring representatives of the entire textile industry supply chain together, in a country where production dominates. We sent e-invitations to selected people representing global and regional brands and their contractors: the textile- and garment processing factories. Over one hundred highly motivated people arrived at the Dhaka Regency hotel, and contributed to a lively discussion.
Scott Brix, Marketing Director at Genencor: “Bangladesh currently has rapidly growing textile production industry exporting globally; however, their success comes at the expense of their natural resources including ground water which is being depleted at an alarming rate. There is much work to do in this already climate challenged country which gives new meaning and sense of urgency to our mission at Genencor, A Danisco Division.”
Zabed Hasan Azim, Managing Director at Texodyes Corporation: “We see a growing need for communication between fashion brands on one end and textile and garment manufacturers on the other. Their common objective is to improve efficiency that is also demanded by retailers and their customers: the consumer. Our aim is to address that need with the solutions provided by Genencor.”
Madhukar Kulkarni, heading Genencor regional Sales in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh: “The theme of the event was More with Less, emphasizing that our PrimaGreen® solutions enable the entire industry to claim water-, and energy reductions.
The message of biotechnical solutions addressing the need to reduce usage of water, energy and waste played well to those 120 present from textile mills, garment production companies, local, regional and global brands. Representatives from brands included Walmart, H& M, JC Penney, Levi Strauss, Jones Apparel, VF, GAP Inc. and many others.
