The objective of the festival was to promote, commercialize and initiate a significant exposure of the industrial and aesthetic potential of the handloom industry at the local market through exhibitions and fashion shows.

To this end, students of the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) were honorably included as one of the event’s participants.

As part of the proceedings of the event, the students contributed to the various facets of handloom-based design by presenting intricate crafting methods from Jamdani, Lungi, Kadi, Chakma, and Mong fabric design to the effective utilization of traditional craft in fashion and how they coincide with the current fashion trends with the objective of spreading awareness concerning the traditional craft culture of Bangladesh.

The aforementioned project is part of a course module encouraging students to conduct research and prepare documentation concerning the various fashion-based crafting methods currently in practice in Bangladesh.
