Ambassadors from 8 countries and representatives of brand purchasing organizations from 18 countries visited Mithela Textiles and announced buying more clothes from Bangladesh.

European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley gives a positive message to the buyers of all those countries in this regard.
The EU is proud to be the largest buyer of Bangladeshi-made garments. Last year, the EU imported goods worth 19 billion dollars from Bangladesh.
The management of garment factories in Bangladesh is commendable. There are many LEED-certified factories in particular. Ambassador Charles Whiteley said these after visiting the factory.
Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized this factory visit. This event was to inform about the progress, current status, and quality of products made in Bangladesh. By doing this, also created the opportunity for branding Bangladeshi clothes, the concerned people think.
Foreign ministry senior secretary Masud Bin Momen, BKMEA executive president Mohammad Hatem, and BGMEA President Faruque Hassan were also present during the visit.
European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley said, “I have never seen such good management in the clothing industry before. Especially the environment, care of workers, and work environment is commendable. It’s really encouraging.” He also praised the factory’s achievement of the US Green Building Council (UGBC), Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said that there are 184 LEED-certified garment factories in Bangladesh so far. As a single country which is the highest in the world. More than five hundred factories are in the process of getting certificates.
Regarding the visit of the EU delegation, he said that it was organized to inform about the development of Bangladesh’s garment sector and factory environment in the last few years. The aim was to highlight the current picture of the country’s garment sector, especially after the Rana Plaza tragedy.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen said that the development of the safety standards of Bangladesh’s clothing sector will be reported to the world. As part of this, the event was organized with buyer representatives and media and this activity will continue.
