Indian textile and retail conglomerate, Arvind Ltd. has introduced an anti-viral textile technology for its fabric and garment products partnering with Swiss textile innovator HeiQ Materials AG and Taiwanese specialty major Jintex Corporation. This technology is the world’s first to be proven effective against COVID-19.

The company has launched the product under its ‘Intellifabrix’ brand and will be available across 8,000 retail stores. Arvind Ltd. plans to available the fabric in the market in July.

HeiQ claims, HeiQ Viroblock NPJ03 is one of the most advanced technology made up of HeiQ’s “silver and vesicle” technology which reduces viral infectivity by 99.99%. The product is made of with the technology eliminates viruses from the surface of the garment within 30 minutes including coronavirus.

The silver technology attracts the oppositely charged viruses and binds permanently to their sulfur groups. Subsequently, the fatty spherical vesicle technology (Liposomes) helps to deplete the viral membrane of its cholesterol content in minutes, therefore the silver can destroy the virus rapidly.

Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director, Arvind Ltd said, HeiQ Viroblock stay active on treated garments up to 30 gentle domestic washes, which ensure safety for the customers for a good part of the garment’s life.

Chief Marketing Officer, Arvind Ltd., Pranav Dave assures that the 30-wash life indicates the good performance of the chemical, comparing to how long chemicals usually last on fabrics.

According to Dave, the chemical can be applied on all kinds of fabrics, and will be offered similarly across the country, as well as on retail garments such as men’s shirting and suiting, available at Arvind’s dedicated stores. The brand is also making protective masks out of the fabric.
