Jeanologia introduces Sanibox to remove coronavirus from garments

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers’ new demands regarding safety has pushed the denim industry to respond quickly. Jeanologia, a Spanish finishing technology company has developed a solution to sanitize face masks during the Coronavirus pandemic in Spain. And now, it is using that same technology in a new sanitization chamber called Sanibox.

The technology will serve benefits throughout the supply chain i.e., from sanitizing staff uniforms before use to sanitizing garments at distribution centers, to sanitizing items that were returned or tried on.

According to Jeanologia, it is the only sanitization technology certified to eliminate coronavirus from textiles and footwear. Coronavirus is used to describe several virus strains; Jeanologia did not specify if the Sanibox is effective against COVID-19.

It is certified by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and in compliance with AFNOR NFT 72-281, the standard method for verifying the effectiveness of airborne surface disinfection systems. It has a 98 percent sanitization level.

Jeanologia founder Enrique Silla believes that the combination of ozone technology with humidity control eliminates bacteria and deactivates viruses safely and quickly.

“Consumers will not buy again if they do not feel safe,” he said. “Therefore, we must unite all the parties involved in the industry to protect workers and consumers throughout the different stages of the production process by using sanitization.”

Tonello, a garment and finishing machinery company launched SaniCare in May, a similar solution that uses ozone to sanitize and disinfect items at various stages of the supply chain.
