M.B. Trade Corporation’s seminar shows path to overcome future challenges of textile industry

Presence of International experts and active participation of many university students and experienced textile professionals made the seminar successful and opened up a platform of sharing future challenges and way out of the textile industry.

M.B Trade Corporation arranged a 2-day long international technical seminar on Textile Testing and Processing Equipment for quality improvement from 18 to 19 December that witnessed participation from international experts, University teachers, students and textile professionals.

The seminar was a great initiative by M.B trade, which started its journey in 2004, has opened up a new platform for sharing knowledge for the students as well as the textile professionals on the future challenges and way outs of the textile industry of Bangladesh.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor ( Acting ) BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) was present as  Chief Guest in the 1st day in the seminar, and  Prof. Asish Kumar Samanta; Dept of Jute & Fibre Technology, IJT, University of Calcutta, Mr. Lin ( China National Textile & Apparel Council ), CNTAC, China, Pauking Wu – CEO, Refond Equipment Co. Ltd were present there as special guest.

Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi inaugurated the seminar. He highlighted the challenges the Bangladesh textile industry is facing at this moment.

He said, “Presently we are passing a very tough time in textile and RMG sector. We have very strong competitors like Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, etc. So, the professionals working in the textile field need to play a vital role to overcome the problems in the textile industry to make it more profitable, vibrant and sustainable to sustain in the long run.”

Later Prof. Asish Kumar Samanta shared his views regarding sustainability with the audience and guided them with different techniques to achieve sustainability in the textile industry of Bangladesh.

2nd Day of the seminar was presided and inaugurated by Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles where Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Prof. Asish Kumar Samanta; Dr. Mahbubul Haque, Prof. and Head, Dept. of Textile Engineering, Daffodil International University, Dr. Md. Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Prof.  & Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, BUBT were present as special guests.

Professor Md. Abul Kashem said, “Industrial Revaluation 4.0 has already been started. The range of product, productivity, cost of textile products is changing very frequently. Hope this kind if seminar will help the participants to be familiar with the new technologies to overcome the future challenges of the textile industry.”

Both days Mr. Lin introduced the GB testing standards with the audience and Pauking Wu shared different testing equipment, its features and functionalities with the audience, which encouraged the students to work for developing new products.

The second day, the seminar was specially decorated for university students to make young future leaders informed about the modern textile testing process, equipment and management. Dynamic professionals from a different international testing organization like Intertek, TUV SUD Bangladesh, Bureau Veritas, etc. discussed and gave a presentation about what is textile testing in the textile perspective, why it is necessary, what is the method, what is the result and future prospect of testing.
