Recently M & S, UK based leading retailer published Interactive Suppliers’ Map. This is truly a great step forward to supply chain transparency. The website they launched is http://interactivemap.marksandspencer.com/ .
The site shows that to date M & S is sourcing from 53 countries and 1231 factories globally in which 819,081 people are working. Anybody is able to see country wise details. Even they can browse factory wise details. M & S is currently sourcing from 78 Bangladeshi factories where more than 170,000 people are working for them. Factory wise details shows factory address along with workers details. M & S is primarily importing clothing products from Bangladesh. Publication of interactive supplier information is a great example which other retailers can follow.
