Industrial sector of Bangladesh is suffering from acute energy crisis. To overcome the energy crisis we need to explore for new sources of energy, said Shwapna Bhowmick, VP of FICCI and Regional head for Bangladesh, India of M&S. She remarked this at a seminar organized by the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries in Westin, Dhaka.

After turning around from the Covid shock, the country’s industrial sector has now faces an energy crisis which has reduced the production, she added.
She said, “I have visited 27 factories in the last two months. But the experience I got is a bit scary.”
Shwapna Bhowmick said, FICCI represents about 21 sectors in Bangladesh. M&S sources about 54 percent and M&S India sources about 50 percent from Bangladesh and we have to plan to double it.
M&S is going into MMF fibre-based garments, and that’s why we need a one-stop solution for sourcing from Bangladesh, she added.
Therefore to overcome the energy crisis, we need to explore new sources of energy.
Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) has organized a discussion meeting on “Mitigation of the impact of energy crisis on the industrial sector” on Sunday where Prime Minister’s Advisor on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Tawfiq-e-Ilahi Chowdhury along with leaders of different business organizations were present and spoke.
