Newly developed and re-engineered products exhibited at BUFT premises

On August 4, 2022, the students of Batch-191 from the Department of Apparel Manufacturing and Technology (AMT) staged a day-long exhibition named “The Impressive Catalogue-Spring 2022” at the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) campus.

Hridika Nusrat Kuntala, Lecturer, Department of Apparel Manufacturing and Technology, was the supervisor overseeing the expo. The event provided a platform for student projects, both newly developed and re-engineered.

This exhibition showcases students’ designs on a variety of apparel goods in an effort to inspire the next generation of designers. It was our Bengali history, culture, art and traditional fabric as well as nature, sustainability and many more that provided inspiration for these outfits.

The collection contained “Wedding Lahenga and Sherwani” made of our traditional silk fabric ornamented with “Jessore Stitch”, garments using Sublimation pattern, Zero-waste pattern, outfits’ ornamented with “Hand paint combination with Nakshikatha design” etc.

Besides outfit design on ethical issues like “Deprived life of fishermen”, “Graffiti art on unemployment problem”, “Stop the war”, “Women Empowerment” also grabbed the attention of the audience and praised anonymously.

The show also included noteworthy denim pieces, such as terracotta art on denim through laser print and patchwork on old denim garments using wastage denim fabric and so on.

Honorable Founder Chairman of BUFT Board of Trustees’ Muzaffar. U. Siddique, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan, were among those who presided over the inauguration of the exhibition, which was attended by students and faculty members from all departments, faculties, and administrative units.

“I feel so proud that our students who are the next generation designers and apparel manufacturers can innovate and produce such kind of outfits which can beat with international level. I wish them all the best for their bright future”, the honorable founder chairman Muzaffar. U. Siddique delighted and addressed in his appreciation.

Honorable Vice-Chancellor commented that “Truly amazing and commendable designs having innovative theme and inspiration. The efforts of the students are undoubtedly praiseworthy. In future we’ll showcase more expo with their own developed products in a larger extend.”

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor appreciated that, “Very impressive and found innovative in designing apparel using different theme of our culture, nature etc. Well done. Keep it up.”

Hridika Nusrat Kuntala, whose foresight made this display feasible, let alone impressive, in her own words, expressed gratitude – “Through their own developed products, our students demonstrated their creative thinking, and they enthralled the audience with their creative presentations and received recognition for their creative thinking, diligence, and inventions.”
