Textile and apparel sector is the main strength of our economy. NITER plays a vital role to make efficient and trained manpower for textile industry, said state minister, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh MirzaAzam MP, while addressing a fresher’s reception program of The National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER)on 21st April 2014 at the NITER main campus at Saver. Minister Mirza was the chief guest of the event while Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka and chairman of governing body, NITER remained present as the Special Guest on the occasion.
The chief guest welcomed the newly admitted students with an advice to enjoy their stay at emerald and assured all sorts of guidance and care from the department to achieve their target.By that time NITER has been praised for providing technical support to textile industries. Mr. Mirza requested NITER principal and other teachers to be more adept to make this sector more competitive and sustainable.
Principal of NITER, Dr. Engr. Md. Humayun Kabir addressed the new comers wishing their stay a nicer one with a difference. He recommends the fresher’s to acquire and utilize the institutional skills and experience achieved from NITER. He advised the students to concentrate on their study and become sincere for a better career in textile & apparel industry.He gave a vote of thanks to the participants.Among others, Doctor Md. Enamur Rahman, Member of Parliament, Govt. of Bangladesh, Md. Jahangir Alamin, President, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Senior Vice President, ITET were also present as special guest of the ceremony.
National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) is the first venture of Public-Private-Partnership education and research institute that originally evolved from Textile Industry Development Center (TIDC) set by Bangladesh Government. With a view to expand its activities to fully academic and research area, it was handed over to the operational management of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) in May, 2009. Since last few years it is offering four years B.Sc. in Textile Engineering course under Dhaka University. The institution is growing fast with number of local and international collaborations.
