A research workshop on ‘Skill Development and Research Methodology’ has been organized by the Textile Engineering Department, Sonargaon University (SU) to enhance the skills of research/thesis in the textile sector.

The workshop was held on July 7 with the Center for Research and Training (CRT) where
Sonargaon University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abul Bashar was present as chief guest along with Treasurer, Al-Amin Mollah; Registrar, SM Nurul Huda; Professor. Dr. M.A. Mabud Dean; Faculty of Science and Engineering of Sonargaon University (SU) were present as special guests.
The workshop program was chaired by Engr. Rezaul Karim, Assistant Professor and Head of Textile Engineering Department, Sonargaon University (SU).
The keynote speaker of the workshop was Assistant Professor of Wet Process Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) Dr. Sheikh Md. Mamun Kabir. Engr. Faruq Hosen, Lecturer of Textile Engineering department was the coordinator in the workshop program.
Students of the final year participated in the day-long workshop program. Keynote speaker Asst. Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Mamun Kabir gave a detailed idea of the main motivation of the research based on practical education. He also highlighted the importance and internationalization of textile research in the context of Bangladesh and its use in human welfare. At present, Bangladesh is one of the emerging economies and the contribution of the textile industry to the economy of this country is at the top. Bangladesh ranks second in the export of garments and the relentless textile engineers are leading the way in the pursuit of sustainability and development.
The event highlighted the importance of government grants and cooperation for research. In the modern competitive world, there is no alternative to research-based education to survive alongside developed countries.
It called for qualified textile engineers to play a more important role in the textile industry of Bangladesh. Sonargaon University has been playing a sincere role since its inception in the pursuit of research education.
