The Textile Today tour has revealed that the company is undergoing massive vertical expansions. In recent times the company is building its strong capacity in knit fabric production, dying finishing, cutting sewing and piece printing. Pakiza Group’s capacity in all over printing is also going to be 4 times higher in coming days. They are planning to triple their yarn dyeing capacity.
Overview of Pakiza Group
Pakiza Group is a fabric manufacturing giant who successfully caught the early winds of the favorable enterprise in world-class textiles in Bangladesh and became a household name in the sector with its quarter century experience and enterprise. In 1982, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Chairman of Pakiza Group opened Pakiza with a small retail store selling sharees and printed fabrics. From the very beginning and till now, they fulfill the local market demand. In this continuity through their performance and feedback from clients, they have started new ventures including knit Composite in Savar, and yarn dyeing, denim production and washing, all over printing in Narshingdi.
Production and Products
At present, Bangladesh textile industry is facing more competitive and challenging reality. So, sustainability is a big issue for the textile giants and also for the parallel small textile industries. Pakiza is also facing challenges regarding sustainability. Md. Golam Rabbi Khan, Dy. General Manager, Dyeing Department, Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd. said that, “Buyers want the quality up to the mark, but gives a lower price. On the other hand, we have to follow the rules and fulfill the requirements of ACCORD which increases the cost.”
He also added that due to low price and high quality negotiation scenario, it is difficult to survive in this industry. Mr. Rabbi Khan suggested that BGMEA should fix up a minimum price rate for every single garments and buyers must follow the price margin.
In Bangladesh, there is an open market practice which means a chance to bargain to fix up the price of product. For this reason, buyers get some benefit in price bargaining. The small industries can easily take the order in lower price but it is difficult for a comparatively large industry to take order at that price. He added.
However the Pakiza management is highly environment concerned and that’s why they give priority to green production. All the process water is treated in Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and then discharge to the environment. ETP capacity is 3600 water per day. They have also similar capacity Water Treatment Plant (WTP). For alternative source of energy, they use solar power. They are going to launch a semi green project in Narsingdi very soon.
Machineries and technology
Pakiza is a technically well-equipped group which has all the state of the art machineries and facilities. In every particular section, they use world class brand machineries.
For sampling section, they have four dedicated sewing lines, each line has 28 machines. Sewing machine brands are Juki, Pegasus, Brother and Kansai. CAD pattern design software from Gerber and EuroCAD. Auto pattern cutter brand is SinaJet, Digitizer and Plotter from Eastman. Most of the laboratory machines are from James H. Heal brand.
In dyeing section, they use machineries of some renowned brands like Sclavos, Bruckner, Lafer, Ferraro, Bianco, Comptex etc.. For yarn dyeing, they chose Theis, Stalum, SSM, Datin, Euro Crane. To get better quality all over printing, Ichinos, Zimmer, EWHA, Lafer brands machines are used. In cutting section, they use auto cutter, auto spreader, straight knife cutter and rib cutter from Morgan, KM and Toyo brand. For several sewing action, they use Juki, Brother, Kansai, Pegasus, Nisho, Hashima, UZU and Prym brand machineries. Better finishing purpose, they like Veit, Coolset, Hasima, Nisho brands.

For Japanese and European buyer, they do 100% garments check and AQL 2.5 and also for fabric checking, they use Four Points System.
