On 7 April, the government awarded top exporters with the ‘National Export Trophy’ for the maximum foreign currency earner of the country in the 2017-18 financial year. The Commerce Ministry and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) jointly organized the program at a hotel in Dhaka.
And not surprisingly, the readymade garment (RMG) factories claimed a big share of the total list of 66 exporters.
Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd. has been named as the top exporter of the country in FY 2017-18 for being the top exporter in the period in home and specialized textiles. And as a special reward Z&Z Fabrics got the ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy’ for earning the highest through exports and to inspire exporters to endeavor for more exports.
Mohammad Zaber, Managing Director at Noman Group said, “The govt. of Bangladesh has nominated Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd. to receive ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy’. We are the first and only organization in the history of Bangladesh to receive this award.”

The other companies are awarded the ‘National Export Trophy’ in three categories – gold, silver and bronze.
In the woven garment sector exports, Rifat Garments was awarded in the gold category for earning the highest amount through woven exports.
While AKM Knit Wear was awarded in the silver category while Tarasima Apparels in the bronze category.
In knitwear sector exports, Square Fashions received the gold medal. While Four H Fashions will get silver and GMS Composite Knitting Ind. Ltd. awarded in the bronze category.
In yarn export, Badsha Textile received the gold medal, Kamal Yarn in silver and Nice Cotton in the bronze category.
Envoy Textiles was awarded for being the highest export earner in the textile fabrics sector.
Besides, Noman Weaving Mills and Four H Dyeing and Printing are also got an acknowledgment awards for becoming 2nd and 3rd highest export earners in the sector.
In the home textile and specialized textile segment, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd. become the top exporter tailed by ACS Textiles and Towels Bangladesh.
Universal Jeans also achieved the gold medal.
In terry towel, Noman Terry Towel Mills has been named as the top exporter.
For the highest export earnings in the accessories sector, both Montrims and Fardin Accessories achieved a gold medal. While M&U Packaging Ltd won the silver medal and Uniglory Packaging Industries Ltd bronze medal.
For other products and services under garment EPZ (knit and oven) with 100% ownership of Bangladesh (‘C’ category), RM Interlining Ltd. won the silver medal.
And for garments under EPZ (knit and oven) with 100% ownership of Bangladesh (‘C’ category) Universal Jeans and Pacific Jeans Limited respectively got gold and silver medal.
Tipu Munshi, Commerce Minister said at the event, “We have set our goal to attain an export target of $51 billion by the end of the year. We are also confident that we will achieve $80 billion by the year 2024.”
President Abdul Hamid handed over the export trophies to the winners.
