RMG industry to grow on a new dimension: BGMEA

The 39th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) was held at BGMEA Complex on December 15.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan chaired the meeting and highlighted the efforts and initiatives taken by the present Board of Directors to take the RMG industry to a new high.

The accounts of BGMEA for the year ended on 30th June 2021 was adopted and the budget for the year 2021-2022 was approved in the annual general meeting.

BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim presented the budget in the meeting.

BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Senior Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Vice President Miran Ali and Directors, Chairmen of different Standing Committees and Members of BGMEA also attended the meeting.

“From day one, our commitment was to put our all-out efforts to make the industry more sustainable, maintain the progress that we have already made and accelerate our journey to sustainability,” he added.

The present Board had taken initiatives to identify the potential scope of development in the RMG industry, especially product diversification, technology upgradation, and skill development in order to enhance the country’s overall competitiveness, he remarked.

He also mentioned the Board’s initiatives of promoting the RMG industry globally, especially apparel diplomacy and the first ever “Made in Bangladesh Week” organized by BGMEA in November 2022 to promote the RMG industry internationally.
