Seamless technology opens huge market opportunities for knit garments

In traditional knit garments production methods, fabric is the major components. After knitting the fabric is dyed, patterns are cut or directly knit shaped garment panels are sewn together. Among these process, fabric wastage is higher in cutting section. As a result, more time is required to produce a garment as well as efficiency becomes lower and the cost is increased.

But with seamless technology, there is no fabric. This technology can directly produce finished products and lessens traditional process of knit garment manufacturing. This leads to saving of production costs up to 40 percent compared to the customary knitting and helping RMG firms react quicker to new fashion trends by ensuring better comfort, fitting, quality and durability.

Seamless entire garment knitting was first introduced in 1995, at the International Textile Machinery Association. This technology was initially used for manufacturing of very comfortable inner wear. But now it is being employed in the manufacturing of very exclusive outer wears specially compressed sportswear. Due to the unlimited pattern possibilities, this concept can also be applied to underwear, swimwear, control-wear, leisurewear, sleepwear, ready to wear and active wear.

As Bangladesh is the second largest knit garment exporter after China, Bangladeshi knitting industry is currently going through major technology shift. There is a huge possibility and scope for Bangladesh to adopt the seamless technology with the traditional technology to produce the variety of product at minimum cost and get access to the new fashion trend. Because of the multi-functional property of seamless technology, there are creating infinite market opportunities, both locally and internationally.
