Second ITMA ASIA + CITME Exhibition: Better than the First

The second ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010 exhibition ended on 26 June, 2010 this year with an impressive showcase of the latest textile machinery and solutions. Despite the economic downturn, the combined show at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) has been a great success and proved to be the most important show of Asia. A total of 1,171 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions took part and shown a wide array of solutions to its visitors from all over the world. ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010 welcomed visitors of more than 82,000 from 94 countries and regions during the five-day show. Over 20 percent of the visitors were from overseas. The biggest group of foreign visitors was from India, followed by Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea. The exhibition also attracted good number of visitors from Bangladesh.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010 is jointly owned by CEMATEX (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and its partners in China – the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC).

The exhibition covered more than 100,000 square metre of space and China was the biggest in number of participants (639 exhibitors) and space. Chinese exhibitors occupy 31,000 square metres of net space. In terms of Asian participation, Taiwan is the next biggest group, with 57 exhibitors taking up over 3,500 square metres of net space. Japan, the show’s special partner country, occupies over 3,300 square metres net. Among European participants, Germany takes the largest exhibition space, totalling over 5,000 square metres net, followed by Italy with more than 4,000 square metres, and Switzerland with 2,500 square metres.

By product categories, spinning is the largest sector, occupying 17,000 square metres of net exhibit space. Dyeing, finishing and printing machinery form the next biggest group, with over 11,700 square metres, followed by knitting at 10,300 square metres, and weaving 9,300 square metres.

The manufacturers came with their latest products and technologies for textile manufacturing and industry people from all over the world came to find the best machines at reasonable price. The manufacturers got good orders from different regions specially from Asia. Thanks to the strong visitor turnout, exhibitors were delighted with their participation; among them was Mr Heinrich Trützschler, Managing Partner of the Trützschler Group and Vice sChairman of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association. Mr Trützschler said, “The trade fair was very successful in general and especially for our company. The interest of Chinese customers in our products was considerably higher compared with the 2008 combined show. Therefore business conducted at the show was also very good. We were delighted that the visitors were more international. Visitors came from various Asian as well as non-Asian countries.”

The Chinese exhibitors also did a great job. Besides meeting Chinese buyers, their exhibitors managed to have good discussions with buyers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and other Southeast Asian countries. This is further evidence that the ITMA ASIA + CITME combined show has become an international platform in Asia. So the five day exhibition has been a great success for organizers and owners and as a reward of this success the next was announced to be in June 2012.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2010 is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and co-organized by MP International Pte Ltd. The show is organised in partnership with the Japan Textile Machinery Association, and has the support of the world’s major textile machinery associations. These include: all the 9 member associations of CEMATEX (ACIMIT, AMEC AMTEX, BTMA, GTM, SYMATEX, SWISSMEM, TMAS, UCMTF, VDMA), American Textile Machinery Association (ATMA), Korea Textile Machinery Association (KOTMA) and Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI).

Switzerland based SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler AG has expresses their satisfaction on the exhibition, “The ITMA Asia + CITME was the best visited exhibition since the ITMA Munich in 2007. The profile of the customers visiting the SSM booth were in general of good to very good level. The competent partners in discussions with clear view of their near future activities, projects and in investments. Besides theproject oriented discussions also a lot of networking with existing customers could be done.” They also informed that, extremely strong interest was recorded for the CW8-W leading to stimulating and interesting discussions.
