Smart Jacket (BD) Limited is making one lakh sets of surgical jackets for doctors to fight the coronavirus after getting orders from the Health Ministry.
The company, a concern of Smart Group of Industries, had ready items of 50,000 sets of surgical jackets in stock at their factory in Chattogram located at Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). They delivered those yesterday afternoon.

“We regularly manufacture surgical jackets for an American buyer. The Health Ministry on Monday asked us to make one lakh sets and after receiving the order we delivered 50000 sets, which were already prepared earlier for export,” Mujibur Rahman, Director of the company, said.
He said about 11,000 workers are working at the factory and it is possible to produce on average of 20,000 sets of such jackets per day.
Expressing his hope he said, “We will be able to deliver the remaining 50,000 sets of surgical jackets within Thursday.”
“We are not concerned about the profit for this consignment since it is an urgent need for the country in this crucial time,” the Director said, adding that “The health ministry assured us of bearing the manufacturing cost.”
