Solar EPC organizes daylong expo and conference on rooftop solar solutions

A day-long expo and conference held on September 03, 2022, at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka, organized by SEPC. It was an unconventional event where visionary entrepreneurs, policymakers, and top-level management of leading industries were present.

The main focus of the expo and conference was showcasing rooftop solar solutions for the textile, garments and other export-oriented industries. Around 40 companies from the leading textile, garments, knitting and dyeing, spinning, RMG accessories and packaging, pharmaceuticals, automobile industries and other export-oriented industries of Bangladesh participated in the expo & conference.

At the event, Emamul Kabir, GM (Operation & Development), Solar EPC Development Ltd., presented a detailed presentation on the current energy generation overview, renewable energy generation mix (present scenario), GoB energy goal and complete rooftop solution (from site assessment to implementation) by Solar EPC.

In addition, Solar EPC technology partners –Liang Weixing (Jack), MD of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd; Jay Ye, Sales Manager (APAC), HENGTONG International Business Group, also presented their solutions in the program.

The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) has set a target of 40% of electricity shall generate from renewable energy sources by 2041. Which will be equivalent to 24,000 MW as the total electricity generation target is 60,000 MW by 2041. By 2031 GoB has targeted to generate 4100 MW of electricity from renewable energy sources. At present renewable energy installed capacity is only 911.38 MW.

Mohammad Alauddin, former chairman of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), were present at the event. Alauddin added that installing rooftop solar in industries can play a vital role to achieve the renewable energy goal of the government. It will also be a sustainable energy solution for the industries.

Tareq Amin, Founder & CEO of Textile Today and Noshin Nawal, Senior Executive Officer-Green Finance, IDLC, also spoke in the program. Nowshin presented green financing facilities & different schemes by IDLC finance. Industries can adopt such green initiatives. Whereas,  Tareq emphasized low-interest loans & relevant support by the GoB and focused on the green initiative of industries to attract more buyers.

In the Q&A session, participants raised relevant questions and queries to the SEPC team and the associate partners. Concerned persons from SEPC and associates answered the questions.
