Five items you need to add to your closet
You’ve done the classic denim jacket, culottes, and button-front skirt. Now it’s time to take things to the next level with some fresh cuts.
Following five are of our favorites.
1. If you liked culottes, try wide-leg jeans
Culottes were everywhere last season. And while the silhouette is still going strong, it’s time for something new. Enter wide-leg jeans: The casual cut will look great with a one-piece swimsuit on the way to the beach and with a bodysuit for cocktails afterward.
2. If you liked cutoffs, try GYM Shorts
If you’re into distressed denim, try the same style but with an elasticized waistband. Featured in Chloé’s spring 2016 collection, these shorts offer a similarly chill look, but with at leisurely appeal.
3. If you liked classic jackets, try workwear jackets
Give your standard denim jacket a break and try a workwear jacket instead. The iconic style is cut to look a little more masculine and streamlined, allowing for a sleeker, cooler vibe.
4. If you liked kick flares, try cropped straight leg jeans
Just when your eye has adjusted and started loving kick flares, we’re throwing another style at you. Decidedly more flattering, the lean straight-leg jean is great on many body types. We’re obsessed with Re/Done’s reworked denim, but these Raey jeans will also do the trick.
5. If you liked button-front skirts, try micro mini skirts
The button-front skirt had a real moment last year, and while we still love the look, there’s a new mini in town. Actually, this isn’t new at all. The micro mini denim skirt is probably what you wore in the early ’00s, but it’s making a comeback. Skip the going-out top you used to pair it with and style your skirt with a sleek button down and simple flats instead.
