The Swedish Embassy in Dhaka, together with Business Sweden, launched the first step of the Sustainable Fashion Platform by Sweden in Bangladesh.
The initiative aims at contributing to the Green Transition of the readymade garment (RMG) industry in Bangladesh by bringing Swedish cutting-edge climate-smart and green technology to the Bangladesh market.
Swedish RMG brands have ambitious climate goals. Swedish tech companies have a lot to offer when it comes to sustainability and climate-smart solutions. The first phase of the establishment of the Platform was matchmaking, with on-site factory visits, between Swedish green-tech companies and the local suppliers of Swedish RMG brands H&M, Lindex and IKEA.
Alexandra Berg von Linde, Swedish Ambassador in Bangladesh highlighted a future sustainable partnership for Sweden-Bangladesh.
A Sweden-Bangladesh collaboration within renewable energy, energy efficiency, textile waste and water management in the RMG sector, has the potential to contribute to a green transition of the garment industry and thereby strengthen the Bangladesh market globally.
