Taiwan shows Asian strength in ‘smart’ machinery at ITMA 2019

Taiwan’s textile industry is attracting attention internationally. 10 out of 32 football team’s of 2014 World Cup wore jersey made of functional fabric made in Taiwan. In leading global brands such as Nike, Adidas, Uniqlo, etc, 70% of the functional fabrics are from Taiwan, which makes Taiwan the main supplier of artificial fibers.

Jenny Tsai, Director, Taiwan Trade Center Barcelona, highlighted these while delivering his speech in the international press conference held at ITMA 2019 on 21 June in Barcelona.

As well as the talents, experience and the healthy relationship with big global manufacturers, there’s a big effort in Taiwan’s textile machinery supply chain. This includes the world’s number one knitting machine manufacturer, Pailung Machinery Mill Co.Ltd., and Asia’s major dyeing influencer, Logic Art Automation Co., Ltd., which specializes in factory automation, printing and dyeing textile devices.

According to statistics from Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), the export value of textile machinery from January to December 2018 was 1.02 billion US dollars, which was up nearly 1% from last year.

Under the wave of ‘Industry 4.0,’ Taiwan’s textile machinery strives toward the advanced innovation and smart production route, achieving a small amount of customized production. Seven of the most intelligent companies in Taiwan are showcasing their smart technologies and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Pailung latest control system and Knitting Factory automation use MES solutions which help reducing knitting errors to as low as 1% and automatic machine adjustment helps increasing machine efficiency to 70%, said Brian Lan, AVP, Pailung Machinery Mill Co. Ltd.

Steven Shen, Managing Director of Logic Art Automation Co. Ltd. said that automation control systems, Industry 4.0 systems integrated through big data can give problem free remote management of dyehouse.

“Logic Art technology helps integrates all dyeing machinery of the dyehouse automatically controlling all dyes and chemical dosing and later getting all updates in Cell Phones.”

Ya-Chen Chang told that conveyer belt technology helping reducing water use in the dyeing machine significantly as in such machine you do not need water to keep fabric floating and transportation of fabric within dyeing machine

Andy Yueh, Sales Manager of CCI Tech Inc. informed that his company has come with revolutionary technology for reducing sampling time for woven fabric. Sample preparation in the weaving industry is very costly and time-consuming.

CCI can significantly reduce it with both studio solutions and also within loom solutions. These are suitable for research, education and making business easy and fast for weaving and woven processing industry.

Representatives from Tai Ho Shing Knitting Machinery Co. and Taiwan Giu Chun Ind. Co. presented their socks manufacturing and highly efficient knitting machine respectively.
